First deputy PLC speaker and Hamas' prominent political leader MP Dr. Ahmed Bahar has described Monday's meeting of the Palestinian factions deliberating the prisoners' document as "pivotal" that could produce final announcement of a consensus on the Palestinian national agreement.
According to PIC, he described atmosphere of the marathon sessions as "cordial and encouraging," which reflected seriousness and sincerity of all the participating factions to reach a national understanding and solve all unresolved issues amicably and through dialogue.
The legislator conveyed that the three remaining points were the reformation of the PLO, the Arab initiative and the international resolutions, and that Palestinian people's right to resist the Israeli occupation with all possible means. Efforts were intensified in the dialogue to come up with a compromise formula over those issues, he explained.
He expected a deal will be reached not later than the end of the week.
Replying to a question on the possible changes that could happen on the ground once Hamas adopted the document, Bahar underlined that the PA government will not disband, but rather expand to form a national coalition government.
Bahar's optimism was shared by Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas' spokesman in Gaza Strip, who affirmed Monday that advanced and positive results have been achieved in the dialogue so far, and that a final announcement will be out soon. "The dialogue moves in steady steps towards success, and systematic and intensive deliberations are still going on, especially among Hamas and Fatah representatives, to reach an agreed upon final formula of the document before presenting it to other factions", he underlined.
