Eleven people died during floods that swept parts of southern and central Iran since Sunday destroying homes and roads, Iranian state radio reported.

Eight of the dead were in the southern town of Bandar Abbas, and the other three in the central province of Yazd. In addition, infrastructure was also damaged in the Esfahan province of central Iran, AFP said.

Another series of floods hit Iran in January, ending Iran's worst drought for 30 years that forced Tehran to accept international aid in 2000 for only the second time since its 1979 Islamic revolution. (Albawaba.com)
