HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Department and Chairman of the Emirates Airlines Group Opens the Saudi Wing at the forum of the 2007 Arabian Travel Market in the present of HRH Prince Sultan Bin Salman, Secretary General of the Supreme Commission for Tourism
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Department and Chairman of the Emirates Airlines Group today inaugurated the Saudi Wing at the forum of the 2007 Arabian Travel Market held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice president, the UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and in the presence of HRH Sultan Bin Sultan, Secretary General of the Supreme Commission for Tourism, and HH Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Ayaf Al-Miqren, Mayor of Riyadh Region, and Lebanese Tourism Minister Joe Sarkis, and a number of Saudi embassy officials to the UAE, and senior officials of the Supreme Commission for Tourism, and executive and managers of the companies and sectors participating in the Saudi Wing.
Following the inauguration of the Saudi Wing, HRH Prince Sultan stated in a press statement that the development of tourism sector reflecting the status of political and economic stability in Saudi Arabia, and added that the Saudi tourist is an important component of tourism industry in the Gulf region and other parts of the world. Due to the effective role of tourism the Supreme Commission for Tourism have implemented a number of tourist projects in Al-Uquair and the Red Sea region, he added. He also stressed the economic importance of handicraft and traditional crafts in Saudi Arabia and emphasized that the growth of the private sector is closely related to the government performance.
HRH Prince Sultan Bin Salman indicated that Supreme Commission for Tourism will in the middle of next year organize an annual sizable exhibition on travel, tourism and tourist investment in Saudi Arabia. He added that SCT have made a comprehensive and an integrated study about funding resources for tourism venues in coordination with the ministry of planning and in collaboration with the World Bank, and all the proposed recommendations concerning this topic are being revised by the Higher Economic Council. He also advised Saudi investors to focus on local tourism industry because it is fruitful and profitable and because it has not been influenced by market fluctuations.
HRH Prince Sultan Bin Salman shed light on the most prominent project implemented by the Supreme Commission for Tourism and confirmed that the strategy and success of these projects require much more knowledge on investment, organization, education and training.
After inaugurating the exhibition, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum toured all of the 20 booths of the Saudi Wing which is occupying an area of 517 square meters, and got acquainted to the exhibition activities.
"We take pride in Saudi Arabia's participation in the fifth cycle of the Arabian Travel Market", His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum said in a press statement inside the Saudi Wing at Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum in the Dubai World Trade Center.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum emphasized that this festival is one that attracts so many Saudis.
