Hizbullah's TV station may lose its license in France for broadcasting a show that accused Zionists of spreading AIDS to the Arab world, France's media regulator said Tuesday.

The High Audiovisual Council, or CSA, said in a statement, cited by the AP that Al-Manar TV had violated its contractual agreement and a French law that bans media from inciting "hatred or violence." In the program, aired twice last week, an expert to Zionist affairs was quoted as saying: "This enemy has no scruples in committing acts that could attack the health of Arab and Muslim citizens."

In Beirut, Al Manar expressed "surprise" at the CSA's "hasty decision to send a warning" to the network, and insisted that it had not broken the agreement.
