A Houthi missile targeting Saudi Arabia killed one civilian in Yemen after it was intercepted by Saudi Royal Air Defense forces, state news agency SPA reported.

The Houthi militia launched the missile on Thursday evening towards the Kingdom, a spokesperson for the Saud-Led Arab coalition said.

Colonel Turki Al-Maliki said that at exactly 8:34 p.m., the coalition jets spotted the missile being launched by the Houthis from a north western province in Yemen (Imran) towards Saudi territory.

Al-Maliki said the missile was fired at Jazan “in a deliberate way to target residential and populated areas,” and explicitly violating international humanitarian law.

The Saudi Royal Air Defense forces intercepted and destroyed the missile, the spokesperson said.

The missile exploded in the air, causing debris to fall onto residential areas, killing a Yemeni resident and injuring 11 others.

The spokesman said the Arab coalition would continue to take all measures to maintain regional and international security.
