With the third round of the Formula Campus Renault Elf Championship coming up, Khalid Al Mutawaa, Mohammad Al Abdooli and Thani Al Thani, the three young HSBC Racing Academy drivers are eager to get on track again at Dijon. The race is scheduled to be held on the 12th & 13th May 2007.
Talking about the UAE racers, David Terrien, HSBC Racing Academy Team Mentor and Trainer and current Manager of the Dubai Autodrome said: “These three young men have tremendous potential and most importantly they have the enthusiasm and drive to do their best, despite facing some of the toughest competition and some mechanical challenges so far. We have done our best to give them the training that they need in order to really push all limits and achieve good positions. It is very heartening to see their continued passion for racing that they have clearly displayed so far.” Mr. Terrien is also a former Karting and FIA GT Champion.
The HSBC Racing Academy was set up in 2006 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The primary objective of such an initiative was to encourage the growth of motorsports in the region, by offering the right level of training to young achievers, with potential on the track. The three who have been chosen to race in France are the Academy toppers who have received a lot of support and guidance through the best professionals, to hone their racing skills to the maximum. The coming together of the Dubai Autodrome and HSBC, two well known organisations, has resulted in the brilliantly evident success of the HSBC Racing Academy initiative. All three drivers who were selected to compete have displayed a great deal of skill and talent in the previous rounds of the championship.
Khalid Al Mutawaa, Mohammad Al Abdooli and Thani Al Thani are three local stars from the UAE. They have trained on the Dubai Autodrome track in preparation for their first international competition. They have also undergone two courses at the famous Auto Sports Academy in France. But apart from this intensive training, what keeps all three drivers accelerating towards the finish line, is the incredible passion that they have for racing. Their enthusiasm remains undimmed as they hold fast to their ambition of finishing each race in an excellent position. Despite the many years of experience that goes in favour of the other international racers, the three first-time competitors are not fazed or under-confident about their abilities to put up a good performance.
As they gear up for the third round at Dijon, it is quite apparent that they are once again ready to give it their best shot. They are determined to make their mark in racing and view the next race as one more opportunity in this direction. The results for the third round will be published in the week commencing the race.
