The 2007 HSBC Racing Academy drivers Khalid Al Mutawaa, Mohammed Al Abdoli and Thani Al Thani are set to return to France this week to take part in the second round of the Formula Campus Renault Elf Championship, held at Ledenon on the 28th and 29th April.
These home grown drivers have shown good results in comparison to the other European drivers who have long years of motor sport experience. “This year, the level of performance is very high and competitive but I am sure that with all the training our drivers have had and the growing experience they are getting, they will terminate the season in advanced and respectable positions.” said David Terrien, The HSBC Racing Academy Team Mentor and Trainer, former Karting and FIA GT World Champion as well as current Dubai Autodrome Karting Manager.
In a bid to encourage and recognise budding motor sport talent in the Middle East, HSBC and the Dubai Autodrome are two well known organisations that are providing an incredible amount of support through the HSBC Racing Academy. This was an initiative developed under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in 2006. The three young drivers who are the beneficiaries of this solid support have received intensive training to ensure that they reach a high level of performance potential. The goal of the HSBC Racing Academy is to identify and train young racers, to a level where they are competent and confident enough to compete against the best talent at international level.
Under the professional and highly skilled guidance of the qualified instructors at the Dubai Autodrome, the three chosen young Emirati drivers of the HSBC Racing Academy, were prepared well for their upcoming challenges. Before their first international race, they were also provided with the opportunity to attend two courses at the well known Auto Sport Academy FFSA in France. No efforts were spared in priming these three potential champions to do their best and increase their endurance levels, with a view to help them perform to the maximum. Such initiatives as the HSBC Driving Academy are a start in the right direction towards developing motor sports in the UAE and creating recognised star performers from the region.
The joint effort of HSBC and the Dubai Autodrome has already borne results with the three drivers making an excellent effort in the first round of their first international racing championship. They are now geared up to push their limits in the second round at France. Race results for the drivers will be published the week commencing the race.
