Israeli forces shot and detained a 19-year-old Palestinian overnight on Wednesday during clashes in the southern occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem's al-Obayat village, a spokesperson for the Red Crescent told Ma'an.

Muhammad Abu Rayan said Israeli forces shot and injured a teen identified as Ayman Ameen Hassan al-Khatib before detaining him. Rayan was unable to speak to al-Khatib's condition, as Red Crescent medics were not allowed to treat the victim.

Rayan added that Israeli forces seized the identity cards of the Red Crescent staff who tried to treat the teen.

Al-Khatib was taken away to an unknown location.

An Israeli army spokesperson did not immediately respond for comment.

Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces have been a daily occurrence in the occupied Palestinian territory since the start of October.

The clashes coincided with a series of alleged, actual, and attempted attacks carried out by individual Palestinians on Israeli military and civilians.

International rights groups have criticized Israel for excessive use of force -- amounting to to extrajudicial execution -- against Palestinians who don’t pose sufficient threat for such force at the time of their death.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs documented 11,299 Palestinians injured by Israeli forces during the months of October and November, the majority during clashes.

At least 182 Israelis were injured during the same time period, the majority in attacks carried out by Palestinians.
