Iranian nuclear energy chief Ali Akbar Salehi said on Tuesday he had agreed to new terms of cooperation with the United Nations atomic watchdog over Iran’s nuclear activities.

After meeting IAEA chief Mohammad El-Baradei, Salehi told reporters, “We managed to come to an agreement to set a new framework for deeper cooperation for the future.”

Salehi, who heads Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation, did not clarify the details of the agreements.

“Details will be revealed at the proper time. We hope we will be witnessing in the future improved cooperation. We think the international environment is also very conducive vis-a-vis this issue,” he said.

According to a report by state-run IRNA news agency, Salehi met with newly appointed IAEA chief Yukiya Amano so he could visit Iran “at the first opportunity... so he can witness our nuclear activities close-up and Amano accepted.”
