Iran and Armenia discussed on Wednesday possible grounds for broader cooperation between the two neighboring countries, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).
The topic topped the agenda of a meeting between Iranian Commerce Minister Mohammad Shariatmadari and Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Markarian in Yerewan.
The Armenian prime minister congratulated the formation of the new administration in Iran during the meeting, hoping that the upcoming state visit of the Armenian president to Tehran would facilitate the
implementation of the already reached agreements between Tehran and Yerewan, said the agency.
Stressing the importance of cooperation in executing joint infrastructure projects in both countries, including a gas pipeline, the Gajeran Tunnel and a water power plant in Armenia, Markarian asked for broader cooperation between the bordering provinces of the two countries, particularly in road construction and maintenance as well as border trade.
Markarian also asked for facilitating easier customs clearance services on both sides to boost trade transactions, asking for the inking of customs agreements in this regard – Albawaba.com
