A transit camp near Baghdad housing Iranian dissidents came under fire from rockets and mortars, leaving five Iranians dead, Al Jazeera reported on Saturday.
All five of those killed were member of the Mujahedin e-Khalq e-Iran (MEK), a leftist opposition movement based in Iraq since it was outlawed in its home country.
Iraqi security officials told Al Jazeera that between 39 and 40 members of the group were wounded as well as three Iraqi policemen.
MEK is believed to have approximately 10,000 members living in Iraq. This number has increased since the 2003 invasion although MEK members have been living in Iraq since the 1979 Iranian revolution.
The MEK's official statement from their leadership in Paris claimed that six of its members were killed and a further 50 wounded.
