Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Monday that US plans to sell arms to countries in the region aimed at spreading fear and worries among these countries.
According to IRNA, he said such offers were being made on the eve of visits to the region by the US secretaries of defense and state. "The region needs peace, stability and security," Hosseini stressed.
Meanwhile, he said there is no need to promote the level of Iran-US talks on Iraq. "No such proposal has been made by Iran," the spokesman said. He added that the issue of upgrading the level of the talks was "basically not discussed."
