Iran on Sunday said it is in no haste to determine the date of talks with the United States on Iraq. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said "No date has been fixed for Iran-US talks yet." "Talks with the US in this respect need planning and so far no arrangements have been made," he added, according to IRNA.
Referring to repeated calls by US officials on holding talks with Tehran, he said, "Considering US record, we had given negative response to all these calls until Iraqi officials raised the issue. Despite pessimism and precautions, Iran positively responded to the call in order to discuss withdrawal of occupiers from Iraq and improvement of the US conduct in that country."
