Some 235 Iranian MPs have sent a letter to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, asking him to indict Israeli Prime Minister Aerial Sharon and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres for war crimes, reported the official Iranian news agency, IRNA, on Thursday.

The letter was handed over to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) resident representative in Iran, Francesco Bastagli, by MP Ali Akbar Mohtashamipour.

“Seeing the cruel acts committed by the Israeli Zionists against the defenseless people of the Palestine, the Iranian parliamentarians call for setting up an ad hoc tribunal to deal with the war crimes committed by the Israeli officials in Palestine, in particular Ariel Sharon and Shimon Peres,” said the letter, cited by the agency.

During his meeting with Bastagli, Mohtashamipour commented on Israeli massacres of the Palestinians in Sabra, Shatilla, Qana and elsewhere, and called on the international community to react to the “inhuman acts of Israelis against the innocent Palestinians.”

The MP called for setting up a court similar to the

Hague tribunal, which is trying alleged war criminals from the Balkans, to charge the Israelis, IRNA added – Albawaba.com
