Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani is expected Sunday in Kuwait for a three-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, his Kuwaiti counterpart Jaber a-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah said.

Sheikh Jaber al-Sabah announced Saturday that Rear Admiral Shamkhani would discuss "means of strengthening bilateral relations and regional issues", according to KUNA.

The Iranian defense head said that Tehran wanted to "reach a common vision with Gulf countries on regional threats," in reference to Washington's accusations that Iran and Iraq sponsor "terrorism" and seek arsenals of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.

In addition, Shamkhani said his country "supports the elimination of weapons of mass destruction from the region ... provided this measure applies to all countries," including Israel. (Albawaba.com)
