A car bomb exploded at a bus terminal in the town of Garmat Ali, in Iraq's predominantly Shia Muslim south, on Sunday, killing at least nine people, Reuters reports.
Three police sources told the news agency that nine people had died in the attack, while the head of the provincial security committee, Ali Ghanim al-Maliki, reportedly put the death toll at 10.
According to Reuters, no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
However, with growing sectarian tensions, commentators say Sunni insurgents are likely to be behind the explosion.
Elsewhere in Iraq, in the southern city of Basra, Reuters reported that another car bomb exploded in a government office car park, wounding two people, according to police.
Iraq has been hit by a wave of sectarian violence in recent months following the pullout of American troops. The country's Sunni minority claim they are being unfairly targeted by the Shia-led government's new anti-terror legislation.
