A U.S. Marine was killed in action in Iraq's Anbar province, the U.S. command said Tuesday. The Marine was killed Monday, the command said. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
Elsewhere, five occupation soldiers were killed while clearing mines in the Polish-run occupation zone in Iraq on Tuesday, a Polish military spokesman said. Six other soldiers were injured in the blast.
"During a de-mining operation an accidental explosion killed five coalition soldiers: two Poles, two Slovaks and one Latvian," said Colonel Zdzislaw Gnatowski, spokesman for Poland's general staff, according to Reuters.
Gnatowski said the explosion took place at about 9 a.m. (local time) near al-Suvariya. (Albawaba.com)
