Iraqi jets were seen Friday dispersing pamphlets over Daesh-controlled Mosul, telling residents the militant group would be driven from the city in the near future, Reuters reported.

“The solution, with God’s help, is close,” the leaflets told residents.  “Your armed forces are at the gate, cooperate with them.”

The leaflets also promised the establishment of a radio station, Mosul FM, that would broadcast instructions to residents about the imminent offensive to retake city.

Apart from the dispersal of pamphlets Friday, the Iraqi armed forces have showed no signs of an upcoming military operation in Mosul.

Mosul residents told Reuters that Daesh militants demanded locals to stay away from areas where the pamphlets were being dropped.

The northern city has remained under Daesh control since militants seized it in a whirlwind campaign across Iraq last June, prompting hundreds of thousands of residents scrambling to nearby semiautonomous Iraqi Kurdistan for safety.
