Islamic Jihad gunners in the Gaza Strip fired rockets at an Israeli town on Monday afternoon in what the resistance movement said was an "initial response" to Israel's killing of one of its top military commanders in the West Bank. There were no casualties or damage caused.
Earlier Monday, Islamic Jihad vowed "blood for blood" in response to the Israel's Tulkarem raid, which killed senior activist Luai Saadi and a senior Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades member.
The Islamic Jihad vowed to revenge the killing.
According to Israel Radio, Israel said Saadi led the cell responsible for a number of attacks on Israeli targets, including suicide bombings in Tel Aviv and Netanya.
In a statement on its Website, the Islamic Jihad said that this latest assassination violated the calm, which was declared earlier this year by Palestinian factions. It added that assassinations and liquidations will not scare the Palestinians but on the contrary these actions will intensify the movement's fight against the occupation.
