ALBAWABA - In an unexpected move, the Israeli army announced on the first day of Eid Al-Adha a "tactical pause" in fighting along a road in the south of Gaza.

On Sunday, the Israeli army declared on its official X account that it will pause fighting during certain hours in order to allow humanitarian aid to enter.

It said: "Tactical pause of military activity for humanitarian purposes will take place from 08:00 until 19:00 every day until further notice along the road that leads from the Kerem Shalom Crossing to the Salah al-Din Road and then further north."

In addition, the army also noted that this "is an additional step in the humanitarian aid efforts that have been conducted by the IDF since the beginning of the war."

According to Al-Jazeera, on Saturday, eight Israeli soldiers were killed in an ambush in the southern city of Rafah.

Humanitarian organizations have warned of a lack of aid supplies and basic life materials since the start of the aggressive war in Gaza on October 7 which displaced over 1 million people.

According to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), more than 50,000 Gazan kids are in immediate need of medical treatment for acute malnutrition.
