ALBAWABA- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to suspend the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza, escalating the humanitarian crisis in the besieged strip and threatening over two million Palestinians with severe famine.

The move, confirmed by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, comes as Israeli forces intensify their military operations in the densely populated areas of Jabaliya and other parts of Gaza, restricting the movement of people and aid.

The U.S. State Department has voiced strong objections, highlighting concerns about the deprivation of aid and condemning the recent airstrikes that have killed hundreds of civilians.

The department noted the horrific impact of the attacks, including an incident on October 14, 2024, when video footage captured the tragic moment a young Palestinian man, Shaaban Ahmed Al-Dalu, a 20-year-old software engineering student, was engulfed in flames inside his tent after an airstrike hit the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza.

The fire claimed the lives of four displaced Palestinians, including Shaaban and his mother, and leftover 40 others injured.

U.S. officials have urged Israel to avoid actions that harm civilians and to ensure humanitarian aid reaches those in need, criticizing the suspension as a potential war crime for weaponizing starvation.

Despite U.S. requests to review the military strategy in Gaza, the situation remains dire, with ongoing Israeli airstrikes and mounting civilian casualties adding to the urgency of international appeals for de-escalation and putting an end to the Israeli genocides against the civilians in Gaza.
