Israel kills two Palestinians as Hamas claims Dimona attack

Israel said its troops killed two Palestinian gunmen from the Hamas movement on Tuesday near the town of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. "Troops spotted two suspicious men approaching them and identified hitting them," said an army spokesman.

According to Reuters, the incident occurred after a Hamas source said its armed wing had claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing that killed a 73-year old woman in southern Israel on Monday. It was the first such attack inside Israel claimed by the group since 2004.

The Hamas source said the two attackers came to the Israeli town of Dimona from the West Bank city of Hebron, rather than from the Gaza Strip, as reported on Monday. Both Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Bridgade and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine also claimed responsibility for the attack shortly after the attack.
