The Islamic Movement in Israel will establish special guard units to secure holy sites in Jaffa, Ramleh and Lod following the pig's head throw into the courtyard of the Hassan Bek Mosque in southern Tel Aviv, the head of the movement's northern front, Sheikh Raed Salah, said at the mosque Friday.
According to Haaretz, a prayer service was held at the Hassan Bek Mosque on Friday, during which mosque officials planned to screen a security video showing two Israelis throwing the pig's head into the mosque courtyard last week.
Salah stated the mosque would now be guarded 24 hours a day. Earlier Friday, Israeli police announced that two right-wing activists from Tel Aviv had been arrested on suspicion of throwing the pig's head, inscribed with the words "The Prophet Mohammed," into the courtyard.
