The Israeli Civil Administration announced in a statement on Wednesday that the pedestrian lane at al-Jalama crossing would be reopened on Thursday morning.
In a statement, received by Ma’an, the Civil Administration said the lane would be open “in order to maintain the fabric of life and allow the crossing of workers to Israel.”
As for the vehicular crossing, the statement said there would be an evaluation of the situation at a later date to determine the possibility of reopening the route.
The crossing, in the northernmost occupied West Bank, was closed by Israeli forces on Tuesday morning after a young Palestinian man was detained for allegedly carrying a knife and an improvised explosive device in his bag.
The crossing was also closed on Saturday after Israeli security forces shot dead a teenage Palestinian, claiming he attempted to attack the forces with a knife, however no injuries were reported. The crossing was then reopened on Sunday.
On Monday, a Palestinian teenager was shot and killed at the al-Jalama checkpoint north of Jenin after allegedly attempting to attack Israeli soldiers with a knife, Israel's army said.
More than 70 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of October during demonstrations and after attempted, alleged, and actual attacks on Israeli military or civilians.
At least nine Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians during the same time period.
While Palestinian and Israeli leadership have made efforts to deter violence across the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel, near-daily attacks by both sides continue to take place.
International leadership has pointed to the decades-long Israeli military occupation as the root cause of the violence with US Secretary of State John Kerry last week referring to the current situation as “unsustainable.”
