ALBAWABA - In a post-Israeli-withdrawal assessment of Gaza's northwest, the Sheikh Hamed bin Halife Al Sani Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Hospital, a focal point of recent attacks, has been closely scrutinized.
Recent footage reveals that the area previously claimed by Israel as a Hamas tunnel is, in reality, a rainwater well strategically utilized for storage within the hospital's serene garden.
The aftermath of Israeli forces' withdrawal paints a stark picture of extensive damage inflicted upon the hospital building, its infrastructure, and the surrounding landscape. Israeli Army Spokesperson Daniel Hagari had asserted on November 5, 2023, the discovery of a Hamas tunnel in the garden of the Sheikh Hamed bin Halife Al Sani Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Hospital.
The significant context here lies in the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, an initiative under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having established the Sheikh Hamed bin Halife Al Sani Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Hospital in 2019 with a substantial $407 million financial contribution. Qatar promptly refuted the allegations of Hamas tunnels beneath the hospital on November 6.
The Israeli military, in an unprecedented move since the initiation of the ground operation, withdrew from the northwestern zones of Gaza city and the northern Gaza Strip on Thursday. This ground operation, launched on October 27, 2023, encompassed a series of targeted attacks on various regions and neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip.
