Ships from the Israeli, US and Turkish navies set sail on Wednesday from Haifa Port for the fifth annual joint search and rescue exercises between the three countries.
Joint search and rescue maneuvers, called Reliant Mermaid, by the three navies are to take place in international waters off the coast of Israel, Israel Radio reported.
The exercise’s aim is to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the parties in the event of emergency situations that may arise at sea, the report added.
The brief exercise will include a number of boats, airplanes, and helicopters from the different countries. The three navies will then repeat an almost identical maneuver at night. (Albawaba.com)
