ALBAWABA - The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it had carried out airstrikes on strategic Hezbollah leadership locations in Beirut, intensifying regional tensions.
According to the Israeli army’s statement, an airstrike on Friday targeted and "neutralized" a Hezbollah air defense cell that had reportedly launched a missile toward an Israeli aircraft near Kafr Villa, north of the Litani River.
In a continuation of its operations, the Israeli air force, acting on defense intelligence, launched overnight strikes on key Hezbollah facilities, including weapons manufacturing sites, command centers, intelligence headquarters, and surveillance systems, all situated in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The Israeli military emphasized that these Hezbollah facilities were strategically concealed within heavily populated civilian areas. It described the arrangement as part of Hezbollah’s recurrent practice of embedding military infrastructure within civilian zones, posing risks to local residents.
In an effort to reduce civilian casualties, the Israeli army noted that it had taken multiple precautionary measures, including issuing prior warnings to civilians in affected areas.
