The Israeli army on Sunday commenced the process of relocating 48 graves from the evacuated "Neveh Dekalim" settlement's cemetery to Israel. According to Haaretz, three soldiers and 45 settlers were buried in the cemetery.
Also Sunday the Israeli cabinet turned down a request by Israel's chief rabbis not to destroy the synagogues in the evacuated settlements of the Gaza Strip.
Also on Sunday, Israeli ministers approved an agreement for deploying Egyptian border guards across from the "Philadelphi" route in Rafah, officials told The Associated Press. Later this week, the agreement will be brought before the Israeli parliament (Knesset) in a special session, as promised by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Sources in the Prime Minister's Bureau expected the agreement would win a parliamentary majority.
