Israeli police are searching for a man suspected of having planted a bomb Saturday night in a Tel Aviv pub, reported Haaretz newspaper.
Police reported Sunday morning they believed that the explosive device, which detonated Saturday night at the entrance to a pub in the area of the old Tel Aviv central bus station, was a “terror attack,” said the paper.
At around 10:30pm, a plastic water bottle containing explosive material was thrown at the Maestro pub located on Neve Sha'anan street in the south of the city. Police said that a malfunction caused the device to only partially explode.
A policeman who was in the area heard the explosion, and called in rescue forces, said the paper.
The area was closed off while police sappers investigated the composition of the device and checked for other bombs in the vicinity.
On June 1, a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up outside a Tel Aviv night club, killing 21 Israelis and injuring more than 90.
