An Israel Defence Force soldier was lightly wounded by stones thrown at him by Palestinians protesting in the Al Aroub refugee camp in the Gush Etzion region of the West Bank, Army radio reported on Thursday evening.

The clashes began in the aftermath of an attempted attack on an IDF soldier earlier on Thursday afternoon in the vicinity of the camp. Dozens of Palestinians threw stones and Molotov cocktails at IDF soldiers.

Israeli security forces thwarted an attempted attack near the Al-Aroub refugee camp in the southern West Bank, the IDF reported Thursday afternoon.

According to initial reports, the suspect was shot by IDF forces after he ran toward Israeli troops with an ax in his hand.

There were no injuries to Israeli forces in the attempted stabbing.
