ALBAWABA - An Israeli airstrike on the Islamic Health Organisation medical center in the Lebanese capital Beirut killed at least 6 people, in Bachoura, central Beirut.
The strike counts as the second Israeli strike on central Beirut within the span of a week, following the assassination of Hezbollah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah.
Israel said it carried out a precision air attack on Beirut. Witnesses reported hearing a big explosion, and a security source claimed it hit a building in downtown Beirut's Bachoura district, close to parliament, making it the closest Israeli attack to Lebanon's seat of government.
Before the explosion rocked the area, residents of Beirut heard a missile flying above the city. Videos circulated on social media showed a massive fire engulfing a building's top floor.
Lebanese health officials said that at least six people were killed and seven were seriously injured. They added that 46 more people were killed as a result of Israeli attacks on the city within the prior 24 hours.
Three missiles also struck the southern suburbs of Dahiyeh, where Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was assassinated last week, causing loud explosions, according to Lebanese security authorities. On Wednesday, Israeli forces launched more than a dozen attacks in the southern suburbs.
