ALBAWABA - Syrian State-controlled news agency SANA reported that an Israeli airstrike on Homs, west of Syria led to the killing and injuring of several civilians.

"At approximately 00:30 at dawn on Wednesday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial attack with missiles from the direction of northern Tripoli, targeting many points in the city of Homs and its countryside, and the army air defenses intercepted the aggression’s missiles and shot down some of them" SANA reported, citing an unnamed military source.

The strike comes almost a week after the Iraqi resistance announced targeting Tower 22, a U.S. military base in Rukban, northeast Jordan, near the Syrian borders.

Syrian Observatory for Humanitarian Rights reported that several explosions were heard on the outskirts of Homs.

The pro-government Sham FM radio station said the areas struck included the affluent al-Malaab neighborhood and Hamra Street. It said Israel struck farmland in al-Waer, causing fires but no casualties there, the Associated Press reported.

According to the Observatory, the strikes killed a Syrian woman, man, and child while injuring seven others. Ambulances also transported two unidentified individuals.

Israel upped the intensity of its attacks on targets across Syria since October 7, striking Hezbollah and Iran-backed sites.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
