Italian businesses eye TechnoPark
The progress made by TechnoPark, the science and technology facilitator of Economic Zones World, in pitching itself as an investment destination in knowledge based systems and technology-enabled services gathered momentum with increasing interest from Italian businesses.
At an Italian road show held recently in Milan and Genoa, supported by the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE) and the World Trade Centre (WTC) Genoa, TechnoPark engaged in dialogue with more than 80 prominent Italian companies to discuss cooperation in the fields of science and technology.
Talking about scientific and technological collaboration during his visit to Italy, Hamad Al Hashemi, Managing Director of TechnoPark said: “In Italy, environmental initiatives, water desalination and alternative energy are heavily prioritized, with remarkable innovation occurring in these fields. We are eager to bring the latest advancements in these fields to the Middle East. TechnoPark is also keen to develop nanotechnology and biotechnological centres, with a special focus on flagship projects.
Al Hashemi added: “We have been engaged in serious talks with the ICE following their visit to Dubai last year and we are positive that after our visit to Italy there will be more to look forward to. The prospects of strengthening existing trade relations are very high.”
The two-day program, backed by the Chamber of Commerce and attended by the Mayor of Milan, Letizia Moratti, featured seminars and discussions on several core areas including water treatment and technologies, gas, environment technologies, maritime light industries (in Genoa), robotics, logistics, solar & eolics technologies, nanotechnologies and induct industries of above.
Commenting on the success of the road show, Abdallah Al Banna, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, TechnoPark stated: "I am excited about the quality of response that has been shown by the Italian business community. I am delighted with our visit and am confident that this will reap immense mutual benefits for TechnoPark and interested parties."
The growing interest in Italian business circles in the investment opportunities available at TechnoPark has prompted the science and technology facilitator of Economic Zones World to establish a representative office in Rome.
