Jordan’s water ministry is planning to announce its summer water distribution program next week, one month later than its usual announcement date, a ministry official said on Saturday.
“This summer's program will not be much different from last year's,” Adnan Zu'bi, the ministry's assistant to the secretary general for information and public awareness, told the Jordan Times newspaper.
He said some changes were made to reduce or raise the number of days citizens receive water. Supply will depend on water networks, density of population and the citizens' ability to store water.
Jordan has a deficit of 26 million cubic meters (mcm) for this summer, with 146 mcm needed and 120 mcm available, said the paper.
