jumeirah international and emirates airline give capital club members insight into going global

Senior executives from the Jumeirah Group, Emirates Airline and HSBC last week provided insight on how national companies make the transition to become global brands at an exclusive business forum hosted by The Capital Club, the flagship club of Signature Clubs International located within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

“Taking a company or brand global poses tough issues and choices,” explained Andrew Christon, General Manager of the Capital Club. “Hearing firsthand from brand leaders such as the Jumeirah Group on how they have addressed these challenges to garner international visibility and market share was an invigorating experience for the decision-makers who attended the forum.”

Held in the Capital Club’s Signature Dining Room, members engaged in a dynamic debate with Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman of Jumeirah Group and his team of panellists - Mr Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice Chairman & Group President of Emirates Airline & Group President and Mr Youssef Nasr, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited – and discussed the vision, branding and growth strategies required to reach an increasingly globalized market.

During the discussion, Lawless outlined plans for Jumeirah Group to increase its global portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts to more than 60 by 2012.

Mr Gerald Lawless’ presentation was the latest fixture of the Capital Club’s speakers’ programme, which has previously hosted among others H.E. Dr. Omar, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre; former Costa Rican President and CEO of Grupo Felipe IV in Spain, José María Figueres; and acclaimed business advisor, speaker, and author Ram Charan.

The Capital Club, launched late 2006, is opening this quarter in the DIFC’s Gate Village.
