A suicide bomber blew himself up near the US embassy in the ninth police district of Kabul on Wednesday, killing at least four people.
The powerful suicide bombing, apparently targeting a NATO convoy, happened between Massoud and Abdul Haq Square at about 8am.
One security official at the scene said at least four people had been killed and nearly two dozens wounded in the attack. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Four dead bodies have been evacuated to a near hospital, according to Public Health Ministry spokesman, Wahid Mujrooh. Another 22 people were injured, he said.
Area people said the explosion was so powerful that it was heard several kilometres from the site, which was being cleared by the security personnel.
One eyewitness Ihsanullah told Pajhwok Afghan New he had seen a number of casualties lying on the road. The site, however, was cordoned off.
