The Gulf’s leading marketing and communications agency KHP Middle East continued its strong start to 2008 by running three events in three countries simultaneously in addition to securing two lucrative Formula One commercial deals. The events were the Rolex Pro-Celebrity Golf tournament at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters European PGA event, a gala evening at the annual World Economic Forum on behalf of the Bahrain Economic Development Board and a VIP corporate experience at the prestigious Bahrain International Circuit for the National Commercial Bank from Saudi Arabia.

In Qatar KHP brought together a host of stars from the world of movies, music and sport to open the country’s biggest sporting and social occasion, the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, with a pro-celebrity golf tournament. The Masters has this year become a full round of the European PGA Tour and Qatar is keen to underline its ability to create and deliver global sporting occasions, entrusting KHP with the celebrity event and bringing wider media interest and public attention around the world.

KHP has increased numerous events’ credibility by bringing celebrities to occasions such as the Commercialbank Qatar Masters and continues to work with an increasing number of international stars in helping develop and strengthen brands throughout the Middle East.

Hollywood stars Omar Sharif, Jane Seymour and James Keach represented the world of entertainment alongside Bollywood sirens Shilpa Shetty and Bipasha Bashu together with Australian actress and singer Natalie Imbruglia. Joining them were an array of sporting legends: Olympic gold medallists Sir Steve Redgrave, Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson, tennis icons Boris Becker and Anna Kournikova, English cricket maestro Sir Ian Botham and Arsenal football hero Ian Wright.

“The organisation of the event has been great. From the moment we got on the flight, the service has been incredible,” said Sir Ian Botham, who led the way on the course. “I’m really pleased I came and hope I can get a chance to come back again.”

Andrew Stevens, Group CEO of Commercialbank, said the celebrity invites will take the tournament to an even greater audience. “Thanks to the success of the Commercialbank Qatar Masters and the Qatar Masters tennis tournament, more and more people have become aware of the city of Doha and what Qatar has to offer in terms of sporting attractions,” he said. “The city’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics is a bold and visionary move that we aim to showcase to our celebrity guests like Anna Kournikova.”

In Davos meanwhile KHP created a striking Arabic artistic fusion of entertainment at the Morosani Hotel. The World Economic Forum brought together more than 1,400 chairmen, CEO’s and politicians as well as royalty from around the world and VIP guests such as rock star and anti-poverty campaigner Bono, of which over 250 attended the networking event created by KHP.

Bahrain is the recognised financial hub of the Middle East and the event was to underline the Government’s commitment to ensuring a business friendly structure within the country which is often noted as the most free and open economy in the region. His Highness the Crown Prince Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa represented the Kingdom of Bahrain at the event, while guests such as His Royal Highness The Duke of York flew the flag for Great Britain as the country’s senior representative for International Trade and Investment.

KHP has enjoyed a strong on-going relationship with the Bahrain International Circuit since the build-up to the first Formula One Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East, in 2004. Today KHP creates and delivers public events both at and for the BIC, known to be one of the busiest entertainment venues in the Middle East, as well as delivering its PR requirements. It also creates valuable corporate occasions such as the National Commercial Bank event where staff and guests experienced ‘the Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’ amongst others from behind the wheel of a new Aston Martin DBS, the car featured in the forthcoming James Bond movie ‘Quantum of Solace’.

“It has been a fantastic start to 2008 with all departments generating a lot of news business especially the events team who will be running numerous exciting new events taking place over the next three months while the communication side are working on a number of new clients across the Middle East,” said Katja Heim, Managing Director of KHP Consulting. “The team has really excelled itself in recent weeks by being able to create and deliver three such diverse events in three countries simultaneously.”
