Three anonymous individuals attempted to abduct Lebanese national, Nabih Kawsan, in the Marjayoun district in south Lebanon, state-run National News Agency reported Thursday.

The failed kidnapping operation occurred on the main road in the village of Taybeh.

The assailants were reported to have been driving a white Rav4 Jeep with no license plates when they tried to assault Kawsan and pull him into the car. When they were spotted by his father, they fled towards Saluki Valley, neglecting their mission.

Later on, NNA reported that they returned to his house and made a threatening phone call.

Kawsan had previously been in contact with the kidnappers, after receiving a call from an unidentified individual claiming that he was from Liban Post and wanted to deliver a letter to his home address.

After a series of investigations based on an appeal from the General Prosecutor in Nabatieh Judge Nadim al-Nashef, a patrol from the information branch arrested H. Nsour, from the village of Jibsheet, whose involvement in the kidnapping became clear after he accused Kawsan of harassing his girlfriend.

A patrol from the information branch also detained Aa. Birjawi in Zibdine village for his association with Nsour during the operation.

The detainees were handed over to the Hasbaya Information Office and later on to Marjayoun Station so that the necessary legal actions could be carried out.
