Land rover helps highlight malaria prevention, connect africa

Land Rover is proud to announce its part in the AFRICA Outside Edge Expedition, and its mission of peace and goodwill. With the famous all-terrain vehicle at their disposal, a team of South African expert off-roaders, headed by internationally recognized explorer, Mr. Kingsley Holgate, traveled through Egypt in an experience that highlighted a growing industry for the Egyptian economy, as well as providing a humanitarian service for the continent.
With the full support of the South African Government, 347 Land Rovers traveled through Egypt, carrying with them a Scroll of Peace and Goodwill aimed at spreading awareness of Malaria. The scroll has been signed by both the very poor as well as some of Africa's most powerful, including the Governor of Alexandria, Mr. Adel Labib. The Land Rovers will return the scroll, which has over 5000 signatures, to Nelson Mandela, when they return to South Africa.
The issue of Malaria is a top concern in Africa, where every minute, three infants succumb to the deadly disease. As part of their journey, the Expedition has provided nets to pregnant women, as well as crucial education to the local populations. Throughout the trip, the expedition will travel through over 33 African nations using the Land Rovers.
"I can't think of a better vehicle for this mission than the Land Rover," stated Holgate. "This vehicle helped open up the continent for exploration; now it is going to help unite it."
The mission also highlighted the untapped potential of Egypt's growing off-road touring trend. "Land Rover is a natural leader," stated MTI Automotive General Manager Ahmed El Gharib. "The brand is self-assured and respected and we are proud to support innovation in the tourist industry and exploration of Egypt's remote costal areas.
