Two people were wounded in an accidental landmine explosion in Iran’s western province of Ilam, which borders Iraq, police said Sunday, as quoted by agencies.
They added that the explosion occurred when the two people were shepherding in the aria, which used to be a military operation zone during the eight-year Iraqi-Iranian war.
Blasts of mines, left in a number of border areas following the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, have claimed numerous lives since then, notably among nomads and rural residents. (Albawaba.com)
