Lap with SNAP (Special Needs Awareness Programme) provided children with special needs a unique experience at the Dubai Autodrome on Saturday (April 3rd).

As in the previous two years, FIA Vice President and President of the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE Mohammed Ben Sulayem got behind the wheel to drive the children on the circuit.

Sulayem, who has supported the event since its inception, including several other charities, said: “Children need a day out irrespective of their abilities. It is my privilege to support such a cause.”

The 14-time Middle East Champion drove the children for a couple of laps bringing cheer and smiles upon the faces of children.

Various clubs and organizations had registered to send children to an event that has generated interest and awareness with every passing year, with over 100 children registered and from every Emirate for Saturday’s event.

SNAP founder Theresa Gobara believes that people with special needs should be given the same opportunities as everyone else.

"We are all different on the outside but inside we are all the same; it’s about believing in a person with special needs and allowing them to become their own advocate and empowering the individual to aspire to a higher and fuller life,” Gobara said.

The Lap with SNAP event ran from 12 noon until 6pm.
