Lebanese national Ali Mohammad Assi was returned to Lebanon Thursday night after being kidnapped by Israeli soldiers the morning before, the Lebanese Army said in statement Friday.
Assi was kidnapped by Israeli soldiers in the southern Lebanese village of Maroun al-Ras at 10:40 am Wednesday, the statement said, near the officially recognized border between Lebanon and Israel.
It added that he was returned to Lebanese military intelligence through the Naqoura border town via UNIFIL forces.
Israel conducts daily flights over Lebanon, a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which came after the 2006 Israeli war on Lebanon. The Israeli army also occasionally crosses into Lebanese territory and waters, sometimes kidnapping Lebanese nationals and returning them hours or days after.
