Lebanon's Former Economy Minister Bassel Fleihan died in a Paris Hospital Monday after fighting 64 days for his life from severe burns he sustained in ex-Premier Hariri's assassination. Fleihan was 41.
Fleihan, who also was a parliament member for Beirut's Ashrafiyeh district, was sitting next to Hariri in the latter's armored vehicle when a one-ton bomb ripped the motorcade to shreds at a seafront resort in downtown Beirut's hotels' district Feb. 14, Naharnet reported.
"Legislator Fleihan died at the Percy Military Hospital in Paris after vital organs of his body stopped functioning," the F-TV said Monday, noting that he had been on life-supporting system since he was flown to the French capital right after Hariri's murder.
