Lebanon’s director-general of the Public Institution for Housing said Thursday that legal action would be taken against those who had failed to pay back loans obtained from the institution, according to the Daily Star newspaper on Friday.
In a statement, Antoine Chamoun said: “All those who failed to meet their installments on time for the loans they received from the Public Institution for Housing are urged to make the payments promptly to avoid prosecution.”
He blamed “technical reasons” for the delay in studying loan applications, which were submitted in June.
He added that work at the institution has returned to normal, and that more than 4,600 loan applications have already been approved this year.
Chamoun also said loan applications were automatically approved if an applicant fulfilled the necessary requirements – Albawaba.com
