A Lebanese Army officer and a local man from Tripoli were wounded by gunfire in an overnight shooting in the northern Lebanese city.

A statement from the Lebanese Army said gunmen, armed with “light weapons,” opened fire from the Tripoli neighborhood of Qibbeh, "slightly wounding" a military officer and a civilian man in nearby Hay el-Amircan.

The statement said the Army conducted “intensive patrols” in the area following the incident at 9:25 p.m. and began a search for the gunmen, raiding places where shots were suspected to have originated.
