ALBAWABA - Libyan media confirmed on Thursday the assassination of Brigadier General Mohammed Abdullah al-Sada'i, after he was shot dead inside a military base.

Mohammed Abdullah al-Sada'i is the commander of the Special Forces in Tripoli. He was shot dead by a soldier inside Mitiga Air Base.

Libyan media reported that the perpetrator was one of al-Sada'i's soldiers and shot him following a personal dispute over the suspension of a member of the force's salary.

Reports indicate the perpetrator was immediately arrested, and a probe into the case was opened.

The Al-Radaa for Countering Terrorism and Organized Crime militia denied the accusations of being linked to the killing of Brigadier General Mohammed Abdullah al-Sada'i.

It said in a statement on Thursday: "The accused is a military officer with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in the Special Forces, and the Military Prosecution has detained him for further investigation."
