ALBAWABA - Kerem Bürsin raises skin cancer awareness before receiving Azerbaijan’s Walk of Fame honor.

Kerem Bürsin has been making headlines in Türkiye for two very different reasons—using his platform to promote skin cancer awareness while also receiving a star's welcome in Azerbaijan, where he was honored with a place on the Sea Breeze Walk of Fame.

The actor first drew praise after taking part in Euromelanoma 2026 Skin Cancer Awareness Week, joining one of Türkiye's leading public health campaigns aimed at encouraging people to prioritize early detection and routine skin examinations.

As part of the nationwide initiative, Bürsin met with dermatologist Prof. Dr. Nazan Yılmaz, who carried out a comprehensive preventive skin cancer screening while discussing the importance of protecting the skin from harmful ultraviolet exposure.

During the visit, Bürsin revealed that he considers himself to be in a high-risk group because of his fair skin. He explained that this is one of the reasons he undergoes regular dermatological checkups and encouraged others not to delay preventive examinations.

The actor stressed that skin cancer is often highly treatable when diagnosed early and said many people mistakenly wait until symptoms appear before seeking medical advice.

Following the examination, Prof. Dr. Nazan Yılmaz confirmed that no abnormal or concerning findings were detected during Bürsin's screening, reinforcing the campaign's message that routine checkups are worthwhile even when people feel completely healthy.

The awareness event also sought to correct common misconceptions about sun protection. During a "True or False" session, Bürsin discussed frequently misunderstood topics, including whether sunlight through windows can damage the skin, whether sunscreen should only be applied once per day, whether SPF 50 provides twice the protection of SPF 30, whether darker skin eliminates the risk of skin cancer, and whether all skin cancers are hereditary.

Medical experts used the opportunity to remind the public that anyone, regardless of skin type, can develop skin cancer and should protect themselves by using sunscreen, limiting excessive sun exposure, and having suspicious moles or skin changes examined by a dermatologist.

Prof. Dr. Nazan Yılmaz also thanked Bürsin for supporting the Euromelanoma campaign, noting that the involvement of well-known public figures helps spread life-saving health messages to a much wider audience.

Just days later, Bürsin was back in the spotlight—this time in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he received an enthusiastic welcome from fans during a special ceremony at Sea Breeze, one of the country's premier lifestyle and entertainment destinations.

The actor was honored with his own star on the Sea Breeze Walk of Fame, joining an international lineup of celebrities recognized at the landmark, including Ricky Martin and Will Smith.

The ceremony attracted large crowds of fans, many of whom waited for hours to see the Turkish star in person. Videos widely shared across Turkish social media showed Bürsin warmly greeting supporters, posing for individual photographs, signing autographs, and spending time with fans throughout the event.

His approachable attitude and willingness to interact with attendees quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the ceremony.

Following the Walk of Fame unveiling, Bürsin attended the International Boxing Association (IBA) event in Baku as one of its special guests.

The high-profile evening brought together leading figures from sports, entertainment, and business from around the world. Although the boxing event featured international champions, Turkish media reported that Bürsin remained one of the night's biggest attractions, with guests and fans gathering around him throughout the event.

The back-to-back appearances highlighted two different aspects of Bürsin's growing public profile. In Türkiye, he used his influence to promote preventive healthcare and encourage regular skin cancer screenings. Internationally, his recognition in Azerbaijan demonstrated the continued global popularity he has built through his acting career.

Kerem Bürsin remains one of Türkiye's most internationally recognized actors, thanks to acclaimed productions including Güneşi Beklerken, Şeref Meselesi, Bu Şehir Arkandan Gelecek, and the worldwide hit Sen Çal Kapımı (Love Is in the Air). Broadcast in dozens of countries, the series helped expand his fan base across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Whether supporting public health campaigns or receiving international honors, Bürsin continues to attract attention both on and off the screen.
