InterContinental Hotels Group, the world’s most global hotel company, has appointed Sameh Sobhy as executive assistant manager of the stunning Semiramis InterContinental Cairo.

The Egyptian who has been stationed at the Nile fronting property from 1987 to 1994 and then again from 1998 until the present date, has been promoted to the position from his former role as area director of sales and marketing. In addition to taking a step up InterContinental Hotels Group’s corporate ladder, Sameh is excited about the new challenge of tackling an operations role, after so many years in a sales position.

Capable of speaking Arabic, English and French, Sameh will bring to the senior management role a wealth of sales and international experience. A keen traveller and regular attendee at trade events held at all corners of the globe, Sameh said: “I have been fortunate to watch the popularity and success of the Semiramis InterContinental Cairo grow from its opening in 1987. I am exceptionally proud to be yet again promoted at the city’s premier hotel.”

Situated on the banks of the Nile, within walking distance of the city’s major shopping and commercial centre, the 730-room hotel has recently finished the first and second phase of a major renovation program – reinforcing its reputation as one of the Middle East’s leading hotels.

Dedicated to driving the latest in technological services, the property has been developing its systems to encourage customers to use its Internet booking facility. Additionally, all rooms have been installed with bedside control for radio and television, as well as IDD facilities. For business travellers, the hotel offers a comprehensive business centre.

Commenting on Sameh’s on-going dedication to the hotel group, Denis Johnson, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, InterContinental Hotels Group Middle East and Africa, said: “It is pleasing to see Sameh’s commitment to the success of the Semiramis InterContinental Cairo and are therefore delighted with his newly appointed position.”
