Among the thousands of prisoners that were pardoned and released by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, on the occasion of the circumcision of his son, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, were also five Spaniards. Commenting on this issue, the Spanish Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs praised the Moroccan decision and described it as a "magnanimous act… that reflects the excellent relations between the two countries."
MAP added that according to Spanish media, there are additional 69 Spanish prisoners in Moroccan prisons that were arrested mainly due to drug-related cases.
