When the Magic Planet zone was set up at Modhesh Fun City it boasted eighty-six units of all kinds of video, skill and redemption machine games set up for play. It grew to be the most popular zone among visitors and had to replenish on stocks at its redemption booths and ticket counters. To add to the growing excitement, two new games have been recently installed – Deal or no deal and Mini rider 2. Both have accelerated the adrenaline rush at the zone as children and adults flock to experience the thrill of these unique games.

Moreover MFC is one of the venues where the players can qualify to meet their match during the Magic Planet World Championships. Sega Rally 3 is the official game for the same. Prizes include a Chevrolet Lumina, 50,000 AED shopping spree at Mall of Emirates, a trip to anywhere in the world, and a LG Home Theatre system. Gamers can try their luck and qualify all through the month of July. The finals will be held at Mall of the Emirates between 29 July and 6 August. To qualify the player must be over 14 years in age. He should either race through Sega Rally 3 for 2 minutes or win 500 tickets on the newly installed Deal or no deal machines. Special staff has been assigned to help the participants through the qualification process.

Ahmed Ali, Manager of Modhesh Fun City said, “We are delighted to be part of the screening venues for the Magic Planet World Championships. The zone has a great foot fall and since the installation of these two new gaming machines, we have noticed larger participation from the young adults. While one is a simulator and is high on thrill, the other is an arcade game. Both of the new additions have proved to be star attractions and we are excited about bringing them to our valued guests at Modhesh Fun City.”

Playing at the Deal or no deal machine were Furkhan Nomano and his friend Ziyad Ashur Aleef, from Russia and working for a tourism company in Dubai. “We have been die hard fans of this game show on TV, it feels great to be able to play it here. The set up is awesome; it is even decked out to look like the set of the show.  It’s all about luck - all you are doing is just picking numbers and then eventually the game ends and you gain redemption tickets instead of money (like on TV). It’s fun, clean entertainment. I will play some more, maybe if I make enough tickets, I’ll collect a cute prize from the collection counter,” said Furkhan.

Ali Nadeem and his brother, Omar were all smiles as they got off the Mini Rider 2. The peppy eighth grader, who is presently visiting Dubai from Pakistan said, “The ride was mind blowing and really cool. I love to try thrilling rides, which is why I keep coming back to Modhesh Fun City. It’s got it all under one roof – from the rodeo rides to crazy fly and now this. I have already visited this place four times since we arrived 2 weeks back.”

This is the first time that Magic Planet has set shop at Modhesh Fun City. The number of gaming units at the zone is now ninety. There are simulators, video games, arcade games and redemption machines to select from. Tickets collected at the redemption games can be exchanged for gifts at any Magic Planet outlet across Dubai.

There is a wide range of products on the shelves at MFC itself – from pencils and stationery to more valuable items like MP4 players, mobiles, laptops, etc. The children can either save their coupons for a bigger prize or use the basic winnings for a quick deal. At MFC, special crane machine games have also been set up to test the skill of the users – though many of these contain Modhesh merchandise, some also hold valuable goods like mobiles, ipods, etc.

Housed at the Airport Expo in Dubai, Modhesh Fun City is open to all from 10.00am to 10.00pm, Saturday to Wednesday. On Thursdays and Fridays, the venue remains open until 12.00am. It opens at 3.00pm on Fridays. Entry fee is AED 20 per person. It is organized as part of Dubai Summer Surprises 2008, the region’s biggest summer event that will continue until August 22 with 65 days of summer festivities and a refreshing change in entertainment symbolized by a combination of the region’s best in shopping, winning, and family entertainment.
